Russian case: Trump’s former campaign manager summoned to justice
Former campaign manager Paul Manafort on October 16, 2017 in New York
Former Trump campaign director Paul Manafort arrived at the FBI on Monday morning after being summoned to court in the investigation into the Russian case led by special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
A Paul Manafort associate, Rick Gates, received the same injunction. These are the first indictments in this investigation into Russia’s interference in the November 2016 presidential election.
According to the New York Times, the name of Rick Gates appears on documents of companies domiciled in Cyprus by which Paul Manafort would have received payments from Eastern Europe.
The charges brought by Robert Mueller have not been clarified.
Paul Manafort led Donald Trump’s campaign until August 2016, before being forced to resign, following revelations about his ties to Ukrainian pro-Russian oligarchs.
The FBI raided one of his residences at the end of July and seized documents.
